WampServer

Hello All, I am now using the WAMP. and for some reason i want to start the Rewrite Engine in my server. I have a .htaccess file which has a line at the begining of this file the dirsctive is RewriteEngine On Now when i fire the local site it gives me an error and i checked the error log and saw c:/wamp/www/ecarsite/.htaccess: Invalid command 'RewriteEngine', perhaps mis-spelled or defined
