just I had the same problem. It solved create a mysql database, then edit privileges add a password to user then edit config.inc.php, just put your password ['password'] = 'yourpassword'; then if you try to open phpMyAdmin probably it tells you there is a problem. Close the window continue with joomla installation that is my case, in the window that you are asked to introduce your host name,
