Brilliant! That seems to have fixed it - I can switch betwen PHP 5.2.11 and 5.3 and - more importantly - my database backup is working again. Thanks again

Hi - just followed in jfrank's footsteps with the same result! I originally installed with PHP 5.3 and need 5.2 in order to connect to older versions of MySQL. Now if I switch to 5.3 all is OK but if I switch to 5.2 the server doesnt start - only obvious issue in the apache log file is pid file C:/Program Files/wamp/bin/apache/Apache2.2.11/logs/httpd.pid overwritten -- Unclean shutdown o
