Steven - thank you so much for that help. I was trying to go through a tutorial so I could learn some database stuff on my own, but that failure to connect stopped me cold. I'll give it another try now. Thanks again.

Is there a way for me to verify that another mysql instance is running? I just tried it again now and get the same problem - where I only see a subset of my databases available in Dreamweaver (2 of the 5 I can access in phpMyAdmin). The connections for the two databases in the Dreamweaver dropdown panel work. I looked in windows task manager and don't see an extra copy of WAMP running (and

Hi. I'm running Wamp Server 2.2 on Windows 7, 64 bit system. Able to access PHPMyAdmin and Localhost without any problem. When I try to set up a MySQL connection in Dreamweaver CS6, where I put localhost for MySQL server, Root for username, and leave password blank, I don't see all of my databases listed. I do see a couple of them (test and information_schema), and I'm able to successfully

You know I saw an earlier version of XDebug on there (in the Apache folder's php.ini file) - but I thought the instructions from the XDebugger site was telling me to replace the older version (2.0.something) with the one I just downloaded (php_xdebug-2.1.2-5.3-vc9-x86_64.dll) and which I'd pasted into the directory shown below. zend_extension = c:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3.4\ext\php_xdebug-2.1.2-5.

Hi. I'm trying to get XDebug installed on my WAMP server for my Windows 7, 64 bit PC. I followed the instructions on the XDebug site and used their automated tool to determine correct file for download. Then added the dll file and made the adjustments to php.ini in the apache folder as per the instructions down below. But after restarting my WAMP server, XDebug still not showing up when I che

Not sure exactly what was happening, but I think my test.php file probably wasn't a valid document. I went back and changed things inside of the file and now it's working. Would that explain why the code was displayed in the browser, possibly?

File's extension was simply .php (test.php) not .php.text - And I've been using Dreamweaver CS4 for the coding (though I did use regular Notepad (not Notepad plus) to change my hosts file ( at C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc) so the only line is: 127.0.0.1 localhost Is Dreamweaver fine or do I need to download Notepad ++ and retry things? Thanks again for your help.

Not sure if it helps, but if I just click the links within Wamp Server to go to Localhost and then click the phpinfo() link I find there, everything works properly and my info shows up. No problem navigating to phpMyAdmin either. Do I need to set something in PHP.ini or apache's httpd.conf to let the server recognize my own .php files? Just grasping at straws here. Thanks

Well . . . I'm not really sure what's going on then. I'm using the newest version of Firefox but also tried on IE8 with same results. I'm typing "http:two forward slashes localhost/phplessons/test.php" into the URL bar of the browser, and I'm now seeing a new Hello World test document's code (as opposed to seeing Hello World output on screen). This is what shows up in my browse

Hi. I just installed WAMP on my Windows 7 Pro 64 bit system (used the 64 bit wamp installer). I had been following the new VTC course for php which includes WAMP installation, but wasn't able to put service online properly, so removed the code customization from tutorial. Now things are working properly - clicking localhost or phpadmin brings up appropriate screens. I create a simple fi

yfastud - Thanks for the idea. Don't think that was the problem in my case though. My .htaccess only consisted of the following 2 lines: RewriteEngine on RewriteRule !\.(js|ico|gif|jpg|png|css)$ index.php Problem had to do with previous switch between port 80 and 81, which I then switched back, Had made some other changes to httpd-vhosts.conf which I'd failed to clean up. stevenmarti

Months ago, when I was first installing wamp on my windows vista, 32 bit system, I couldn't get things running until someone here told me to change apache so it looked on port 81 instead of the default of 80. That fixed things. I've now turned off Windows IIS (which was using port 80 I believe), and I changed the line in Apache's httpd/conf file back to listen 80. I then restarted all se
