I had to do a system restore on my Windows 8 laptop. When starting Wampserver it now just sits on the red icon. I thought this may be due to losing Environment Variables, so I set these. Perhaps I got these wrong? (Please show me) What else could the problem be?

The error log looks perfectly normal. I will do a netstat next time it peaks - see if there is anything unusual there.

I always see two instances of Apache in my Task Manager. Is this normal? Only one of these is doing the peaking.

Yes, I can just have it sitting there idling in the background without any web activity and memory usage will spike, although I do have a web page open in Firefox. It does not appear to happen when I have Chrome open, which is why I suspect Firefox. There is nothing funky with the code (PHP) of the web pages (I am a PHP dev).

No, its a very clean and new installation. No mods, no extensions at all. I actually suspect that the problem is caused by Firefox, which has massive issues of its own - will do a few experiments along that line.

I have just installed the latest Wampserver on a brand new Windows laptop. Intermittently I am finding that my machine slows down significantly. Upon checking task manager I find that Apache is consuming over 5gb of RAM and I must shut it down and restart Wampserver. I am not placing any significant load on the server when this happens. Has anybody else experienced this? Is there a sol

I had this problem. Something else on my computer was using the default port. I think I changed the port in my.ini and that solved it.

In previous versions of Wamp, plus installations on all web servers I have worked on, when viewing a database and clicking on a table name in the left column, the default view is the table structure. In the latest version of WAMP that I have, clicking on a table name shows the "browse" view. This is a total pain. How can I change it back to how it should be?

I have been putting up with this since installing WAMP 2.0 however the impact on my productivity is significant. Can anybody assist in getting phpMyAdmin functioning at a reasonable speed? My previous version of WAMP it was not a problem.
