UGH ... ok, got it, I hope. Taking the server offline, then back online seems to have fixed the virtual host issue. I should have known to check that, and will in the future. Crossing my fingers that this is the last major obsitcal and I'm good to go, need to reinstall my site / cart software, restore the db, edit the db w/ phpmyadmin and see if everything holds together. Thanks for the help

Yeah, I put the server online, and hosts file is good. I'll check port 80 & LAN, it used to be ok, but with all the changes I've made it may have gotten reset somehow. Thanks, I'll get back to you.

I'm getting 403 errors on my virtual domains. I can access localhost via my browser and explore my subdirectories (for virtual hosts / sites) without any problems. I have XP sharing set up w/ full control so I can access it from both machnes on my network and have no problems with edit / copy / delete from w/in windows explorer. BUT ... I can't see the domains from w/in my browser. I have the vir

Thanks for all the help guys ... but the saga continues. I've burnt days trying to get everything running properly and am frustrated to no end. This is a condensed version literally a couple dozen hours of installing, reinstalling, grrrr ... but I think I have determined what needs to be done, with one new hitch. I think the initial problem w/ phpmyadmin was at least largely a firewall problem.

Thanks yfastud, appreciate the words of caution Unfortunately I can't export from PHPMyAdmin unless I can open the db up, and I don't get that far with the one important db. I can export from my cart software however, and will have to see how complete that is ... it may only be product data which will only get me part way there. I've tried to access it from another PC, the one I actually use for

Hey All ... I'm using WAMP 5 1.6.4 and am having problems accessing my db's via PPHMyAdmin. On very small db's (fresh installs of WordPress) it has no problem, but on my primary db for the store I'm developing, it just hangs on loading the db, never completely opens. - any ideas why this may be happening? - as a alternative to a lot of troubleshooting, I'd definately consider upgrading

Thanks CyberSpatium, that was the piece of info I needed to make things work. Took me awhile to get it up and running, but it's easy once you know how. For anyone who wants to do this, don't make the mistake I was making. Don't try to force Apache to use a drive on another PC for the DocumentRoot ... at least I couldn't get that to work. Set Apache up on the PC where you want the data to dwell,

FYI, a friend on another forum helped me figure out #2 - the "My Documents" issue. Adding quotes around the paths fixed that problem. He suggested I consider using IP addresses to address #1, but isn't sure exactly how it would be done. Each machine has it's own IP. Any thoughts?

I'm trying to get apache setup w/ virtual hosts in which I plan to run multiple instances of WordPress. I've actually succeeded w/ getting the virtual hosts to work, but want to house all data in a location I regularly backup. I'm using WAMP and largely used the urbangiraffe.com tutorials w/ help from posts in this forum. The config below is what I've come up w/ from posts in this forum. My wo
