lameei, Adding that line to the config.inc.php file in the PHPMyAdmin3.1.1 folder did the trick. Of course, I just set mine to false. I don't know why I didn't think of that before. That might be something the developer might want to think of adding so future people don't get stuck on that.

I just upgraded wampserver to 2.0f today and ran into this same issue. My phpmyadmin.conf file had the correct directory, so that wasn't the problem. My config.inc.php in the PHPMyAdmin3.1.1 did not have the line with the allownorootpassword in it, so that wasn't the problem either. I changed the directory for PHPMyAdmin in the phpmyadminconf to reference the old phpmyadmin for now and t
