Internet Explorer makes WampServer crash
Posted by: 50ndr33 (---.bb.online.no)

Hi!
I make my websites locally, and test them in Google Chrome. And when I think the design is done, I open it in Internet Explorer to check if it works there as well.

The problem is that when I open Internet Explorer and go to [localhost], nothing happens. It just doesn't load, and when I try to refresh the localhost in Chrome, it doesn't work either. It's like WAMPServer freezes when Internet Explorer is requesting the webpage from the server. Sometimes it starts working after a few minutes, and then it stops working again after a few minutes.

How can I fix this? ('m on Windows 8 Pro with Internet Explorer 10.

you have ALOT of 304 status codes here, it means that the browser says the page has not been modified and is using a cached copy.

try completely clearly ALL history in IE, include js files and cookies

I can try that, but I just want to say that I upgraded to Windows 8 yesterday, and today was the first time I loaded it in Internet Explorer..

I don't know if it was a coincidence, because it sometimes starts working for a small amount of time. It loaded perfectly in both browsers now. And after one minute, it was back to not loading anymore.

It is Internet Explorer 10, the Desktop Edition (not the Touch Edition), the one that came with Windows 8.

I'm having the exact same problem.

IE can get to localhost, but only If I load it before loading localhost in chrome. IE cannot get to any other page.

Chrome works fine, as long as IE is not trying to load localhost.

I am having the exactly same problem too! (Windows 8 Pro, IE 10)

Everything works fine with Chrome/Firefox/Opera but using IE 10 (or other versions of IE through IETester, though less frequently) somehow ends up freezing the server and it stops working on other browsers henceforth.

Anyone any heads up on how to fix it? And more importantly, why should it be happening?

I found a solution, and since two of you have the same problem, here it is: Download and install XAMPP-server instead. It has more features, is easier to configure to your own needs, and it is safer to use in production, if you for some strange reason would think about doing that. smiling smiley You can easily add Python-Django support, you can tick off Perl in the installation if you would want that. You can install a mail server, FTP-server, Tomcat for Java and so on... Check it out, I promise you, it will be a happy moment!

@50ndr33: that's not a solution in a forum for ppl wanting to use WAMP...

Anyway... I'd also like to confim this issue using IE10, Chrome and WAMP. Tested on two machines, Windows 8 and Windows 7, both using the latest version of Chrome (v25) and IE (v10).

It is incredibly uncanny because there is nothing in the error log it just hangs and hangs and hangs. A really neat trick actually is to have IE10 and Chrome try to load the same page, then as soon as u close IE10, Chrome loads... Not the other way round tho unfortunately... The only way to get it working on IE10 is to just keep refreshing and hope for the best.

Hi,
just installed WAMP 2.2 today on a new WIN 8 IE 10 Machine. Exactly same Problem!
Thought before the bad response timings and issues with accessing localhost had something to do with it.
Fixed everything related to IP6 and furthermore changed port to 8080.

httpd.conf listens to 0.0.0.0:8080

Chrome working fast and without issues.

IE 10 crashes WAMP after accessing 2-3 pages.

Any Solutions yet?

Has anybody thought to report this on a microsoft help site. It does seem to be more to do with IE than WAMP.
