WampServer

New here! Big problem with installation

My first installation of Wampserver actually came off just fine. I needed to activate phpmyadmin of course but that was easily settled. Then I had trouble writing a phpscript to connect to a database from my hosting server which should have been fine of I had the .frm file in the same folder (unless anyone knows different) Anyway I digress.

Then....

Then I got ahead of myself. Got into some settings in the phpmyadmin that I probably shouldn't have touched. I deleted a username alias detail from phpmyadmin and suddenly I was locked out. I lost all access to phpmyadmin and localhost and the display icon turned solid orange online or off. Couldn't find any fix easily online to put it right, so I uninstalled.

This is when msvcr100.dll starts to come into play. Every installation and reinstallation I get an error message (this is towards the end of the process) I get a message saying the installer was unable to find that dll file and the application will not initialise. So I have no access and no database connectivity.

I've tried uninstallling all files to do with wamp incliding icons, folders and registires but this had no effect. There's definately a problem with the MSVCR100.DLL file but I don't know how and where to fix it, I downloaded a dll file of the same name but the installation didn't like it.

I'd given up on fixing it before finding this forum but does anyone have any new ideas i haven't thought of yet?

your mixing versions

what version of wamp is installed?

its probably vc9 and your adding vc6 components

I'm not sure what you mean by mixing version.

But i have installed...

Wampserver Version 2.2
Apache apache2.2.22
phpmyadmin php5.3.13
mysql5.5.24

I've only downloaded using the same link from wampserver site.

ok. thats odd that file is complied with vc10.

this is only as new version of wamp containing php5.3.13 - maybe there is an issue

MSVCR100.DLL should be in c:\windows\system32 - its not a wamp file

Then it sounds like it's as I suspected. I've broken it beyond repair for this computer. Because as I said, I downloaded a MSVCR100.DLL and tried the installation again but it didn't like it as it wasn't compatible with the installation.

Unless it was just because I didn't put the file in the right place? :/

I'm on Windows Vista Business btw (32 bit)

do you have MSVCR100.DLL in c:\windows\system32?

can you tell me the version number of windows

open command prompt and type in "ver"

if you have the file in the folder , right click > properties> details(tabs) > and give me that version number of the file too

I don't have the file currently. I don't know where it went because I didn't delete it or change it before things went wrong but I deleted the "dodgy" one.

I'm on Windows version 6.0.6001

well that file SHOULD come with windows, wamp wouldnt have deleted it

Make sure you have the latest .NET Framework using updates in control panel

I expect it did. I must have "phantom" deleted it without realising it.

I'm doing a windows update now but there was nothing in there about .net framework.

Perhaps if later on I try to grab the file again and give you the version number?

i have same problem, and i install this [www.dll-files.com] but still have error due the installation.

Can I took a look using Teamviewer later today?

I'll troubleshoot it for one of u to try find out why this is happening
