Thanks stevenmartin99 for updating the first post! smiling smiley

I'm sorry to bother you, but I have a small problem: somehow every PHP addon I have installed doesn't work on my PC.

I started with the basic
Apache 2.2.11
PHP 5.3.0
MySQL 5.1.36

preinstalled in WampServer 2.0i and everything works fine (with this I mean I can load my Joomla sites I am working on and access the phpmyAdmin I have passworded and made accessible with the cookie authorization method).

I have upgraded Apache to 2.2.17 and MySQL to 5.1.52-32bit thanks to your addons and everything worked fine. I then tried to update PHP with 5.3.3 version, but once I do that I cannot load my sites nor phpmyAdmin (once I click a site or enter the password of phpmyadmin the cursor of the browser keeps spinning for a while and then stops with nothing but a white/blank page).

I also tried PHP 5.3.2 and 5.3.1 but the problem persists (just to check if the problem was caused by some incompatibility which should not be the case). Naturally if I go back to PHP 5.3.0 everything works as before.

In every case the icon of Wampserver is completely white so that would mean that all the services are correctly loaded. I also checked (trough wamp menu) that the php extensions selected on the working PHP 5.3.0 are also selected with PHP 5.3.3, and they are.

Is there a file I should update with the password used to access phpmyadmin? It looks to me that it has to do with an authorization problem (no sites and phpmyadmin load, so maybe they cannot access the database).
I have even compared the php.ini files but can't find any substantial difference.

I'm sorry for this long post. :/

You might think it's my addons smiling smiley.

But actually the issue is so simple. Since php 5.3.1 the mysqlnd driver has a bug in it which cannot determine localhost (ipv4 ipv6 issue)

So u need to edit the hosts file at

C:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts

Make sure it has

127.0.0.1 Localhost

Make sure it does not have

::1 localhost

Its mentioned in the first few posts.

I can't thank you enough! That was it! (and I feel a fool for not reading the first posts of this thread, but instead spent quite some time googling and searching even on this very forum...doh! /me --> walk of shame and hide in the dark).

Thanks again.

P.S. I din't think it was because of your addons since i also tried the "official PHP 5.3.1" in the Addon section and that also didn't work (but now thanks to your explanation I know why winking smiley )

Why not work to the official version?
It's something to do with it?

Hello Mr. Martin,

I'm interested in using the SDO extension. I've gotten the latest package from PECL, but so far every version of php_sdo.dll I've found on the web does not have the correct timestamp for php5.3.0, and so the module is not initialized.

Any chance you could produce one for i (or j)?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately I still get the following dialog when I try to start wamp (even after installing j)

PHP Startup: sdo: Unable to initialize module Module compiled with module API=20071006 PHP compiled with module API=20090626 These options need to match
