(SOLVED) Wamp Can't Start MySQL Service

Hi, previous I was running XAMPP on my pc and it's running fine. After I uninstall XAMPP, and install Wamp then I can't access to phpmyadmin and I found out that MySQL isn't running.

When I tried to start the MySQL service, it will generate the following errors in the log:

I am using WAMP version 2.2 with MySQL version is 5.5.16.

I tried it to install WAMP previously on another 'clean' pc and it's running fine. Is it because of my previous copy of MySQL did not uninstall completely?

Yes

Search your pc for my.ini

And delete any that are not in the wamp folder

Hi Steven,

I have tried it but still no luck...I have searched all harddrive and remove all, restart services and reboot pc, but still can't run MySQL.

Thank you for your help, I just come across another post here

I found a MySQL configuration file left by XAMPP in C:\my.cnf
(Although I always install it in D:\)
Once I delete it, I can start the MySQL service.

The content of the file is almost same as my.ini.

Its works for win7 32 and vista users

I have not deleted my.cnf file in c:/my.cnf but renamed as my888.cnf its work perfectly.
