I have a similar problem sad smiley I just installed some additional php & mysql versions. I get this error each time i try to change mysql version (i.e from 5.5.16 -> 5.0.86) And for some reason mysql ain't runnig.

How to fix this? I need different versions of PHP & MySQl. The combo should look like (PHP 5.2.x and MySQL 5.0.x) OR (PHP 5.3.X and MySQL 5.5.x)

I also have a similar problem.
Fresh install of WinXP x64
Installed Chrome, Firefox, FileZilla and then WampServer2.2a-x64.exe, setting firefox as the browser
When I run wampserver.exe, I just get "Aestan Tray Menu has encountered a problem etc"
IIS not installed
None of the wamp config files has been edited
netstat shows no port conflicts
There are no errors logged in the wamp/log folder and so it looks like it doesn't get as far as trying to start any of the services
I read somewhere that vcredist_x64.exe needs to be installed. I tried that - no difference.

Any ideas?

I finally figured out what was causing the problem.
When I read that vcredist_x64.exe is required, I downloaded the latest version that I could find. In desperation, I tried installing the version from VC++ 2008 (because that corresponds with VC9 which Apache is compiled under) and now it works. I downloaded the SP1 version which was released in Aug 2008. Please let me know if you find a later version.

I was having the exact same problem and decided to 'Test Port 80' from the Apache Service menu - it reported an error and suggested that Skype may be causing it.

I exited from Skype, 'Stop All Services' and then 'Start all Services' = green WAMP icon and active/working localhost.

I didn't do anything where 'vcredist_x64.exe' or 'apache vc6' is concerned.

The problem (on my machine at least) appears to be a conflict between skype and wamp..
