new - WAMP not installing right?

The install directions on this page: [www.wampserver.com]

seem to say that as soon as you install it, it should be working. I installed it and when I go to [localhost], it cannot be found. In my system tray is "WAMPSERVER - server Offline" and when I right click that, there are only options "About, Exit, Languages, Help, and Refresh", which is different from the image on the link above

Make sure no other program conflict Wamp such as IIS, Microsoft Web Deploy, SQL, Skype, Zonealarm, firewall/antivirus, NOD32, Eset, any web related program including Remote Desktop, Teamviewer or Apache, MySQL, PHP outside wamp folder (ie. in Program Files or System32 folder) ...

IIS and Apache/Wamp are both web server and might conflict in some way, so you have to disable IIS in order for Wamp to work

Disable IIS in Vista/W7:

Control Panel, Uninstall Programs, Turn Widows Features On or Off, uncheck Internet Information Services

Disable IIS in XP:

Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components, uncheck Internet Information Services (IIS)

Restart computer, then restart Wamp

Also, in folder C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc, open file hosts and delete anything in this file and have only this line below and nothing else

127.0.0.1 localhost

If using Skype, open Skype > Tools > Options > Advanced > Connection then uncheck "use port 80..." restart Wamp then Skype

Appreciate the reply, IIS was already disabled, localhost is listed in file however there are other things in there that I will not delete, do not have skype, restarted still did not work

Also firewall is not blocking

Is this the only support?

Thanks

localhost is listed with what is listed, but it is not the only thing in there, cannot delete other things.

cannot delete other things.
that would cause issue since they redirect away from locahost which results blank page and no matter which wamp package you're using, you're gonna got same issue winking smiley

Really the issue is with your software, installed xampp and easyphp, both work great right out of the box.

Then use either 1 of them since it's no matter which wamp package you're using as long as you're happy w/ it smiling smiley but if you're not happy w/ with either 1, you need to uninstall them, remove their registries before installing this wamp winking smiley

Hi Steven,

i have the same problem and I am not sure why apache service isn't installing properly. I disabled fireall, mcafee, and IIS. Port 80 is not being used. I click on wamp tray icon and it's yellow. I rerun the apache service to install and it doesn't do anything and its saying prot 80 isn't being used. Could you help me out? I can run teamviewer.

Thanks,
Bob
