Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

hi,
I've installed the wamp, it runs OK (turns to be white), Port 80 is OK - only the wamp uses it, no IIS is running, and yet, when I call the localhost it won't load the file. I have also tried to load an HTML file (http://localhost/index.html), ur still it comes with "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".

i'm using windows 7, IE 8.
any suggestions?

try http:/ /127.0.0.1


if this works.. open c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

make sure this file HAS

127.0.0.1 localhost


make sure it does NOT have

::1 localhost

or

#127.0.0.1 localhost
