Thanks to Mr. Steve Martin my issue is fixed!

The problem had to do with some hard-coded paths in one of the config files.
I think me having an E drive where most people have a C drive also contributed to the problem.
Hopefully this problem will be fixed in the software package soon.

In the meantime, after editing the config file and restarting my icon is green and [localserver] loads up no problem.

I am having the exact same problem as Selah did. I edited httpd-autoindex.conf file as suggested but it still doesn't work. The Wamp icon remains orange.

I browsed these forums and checked many things:
--I ran netstat -aon| findstr :80 and found nothing.
--I redownloaded and reinstalled the program. I restarted my computer.
--I checked that IIS is not running on my computer.
--I checked the \Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file, and it is as it should be

What I am doing wrong?

If WAMP icon is ORANGE apache has not started so no apache or php logs can have been created.

Something is using port 80, there are many things that might be doing this
TeamViewer/Skype/IIS
Team Viewer and skype can be configured to not use port 80, IIS has to be uninstalled.
For how to reconfigure skype and TV see other posts in here.

left click wamp manager icon -> Apache -> Service -> Test port 80

That will run a command window and should tell you ( or at least give you a clue ) what it is thast got port 80

Reconfigure it or stop it running or uninstall it! Up to you

Ignore the ONLINE/OFFLINE all this does is chnage the apache config to allow access to your server from
OFFLINE only 127.0.0.1 i.e. localhost
ONLINE Any ip address i.e. the world

If you are just using this as a development server leave it OFFLINE

Dear All,

I have solved my problem by downloading and installing VC++ 64bit.

Now the icon is green and wampserver is working fine...

Had the same problem and fixed it by doing the following:

left click on the - orange - wampserver icon, Apache>Service>Install Service

strangely, it seems like apache might not install at the first place...

Hope that will help some of you!
