Apach Issue

I am having an issue with Apache. The service won't run. I have been scouring the net and these forums for a solution, but nothing has worked thus far. I do not have skype running, i disabled windows automatic updates and my other security suites. I also tried changing the httpd.conf file to read Listen 12.34.56.78:8080 and
Listen 8080 instead of Listen 12.34.56.78:80 and Listen 80.

Not sure if it makes a difference, but in the httpd.conf file it reads:

#Listen 12.34.56.78:80
Listen 80

for those two lines. Where the # sign is placed in front of that line as shown, and not on the Listen 80 line.

When I click Test Port 80 I receive the message:

'Your Port 80 is actually used by :

Information Not Available <might be skype>

Press Enter to Exit'

There is nothing in the Apache Access Log. MySQL is working fine.

The Apache Error Log, however, reads:

I hope that you can help me with this issue. I am new to WAMP, and would love to have it working.

Thank you for your help.

Make sure no other program conflict Wamp such as IIS, Skype, ZoneAlarm, Firewall/Antivirus, NOD32, Eset, any web related programs, browser add-ons ...

IIS (Internet Information Services ) and Apache/Wamp are both web server and might conflict in some way, so you have to disable IIS in order for Wamp to work

Disable IIS in Vista/W7:

Control Panel, Uninstall Programs, Turn Widows Features On or Off, uncheck Internet Information Services

Disable IIS in XP:

Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components, uncheck Internet Information Services (IIS)

Restart computer, then restart Wamp

Also, in folder C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc, open file hosts and delete anything in this file and have only this line below and nothing else

127.0.0.1 localhost

If using Skype, open Skype > Tools > Options > Advanced > Connection uncheck "use port 80..." restart Wamp then Skype

Ok, so I went to disable IIS (i'm using xp), using the instructions you provided and when I got there the list of services to check/uncheck did not include Internet Information Services (IIS). I am not running skype. I am not running zonealarm. I disabled ESET NOD32 Antivirus, the windows firewall is disabled.

I also changed the file "hosts.txt" in the system32 folder to contain only: "127.0.0.1 localhost".

Even given all these changes, apache is still not running. I am not sure what to do. Any other suggestions?

I disabled ESET NOD32 Antivirus
disable won't help but you have to completely uninstall both ESET NOD32 and wamp, wamp folder, restart PC, reinstall wamp BEFORE ESET NOD32; however, when ESET NOD32 might block wamp again, so you might want use different firewall/antivirus
