problem connecting to localhost/phpmyadmin

Hello!
I had installed wampserver and I made a database through localhost/phpmyadmin.
After that I installed Apache 2.2 and PHP 5. But after installing those I couldn't browse to localhost/phpmyadmin any more!

"Oops! This link appears to be broken."

I do not know if the problem was created because of the two installations but it appeared just after them.
Also when I launch wampserver the icon turns from red to yellow but never to white!
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance!
georgia

Seems apache u installed is not working.. or something else is open using port 80

IIS? SKYPE?

check by
wamp> apache>service> test>

also make sure to left click wamp> apache> version

select new version and then maybe

wamp> apache>service> remove>
wamp> apache>service> install>

Thank you Mr Martin,
Actually testing the apache firstly gives the result:

"Your port 80 is not actually used"

and if I do the test once more I get:

"Your port 80 is actually used by:
server Apache/2.2.16 <Win32> PHP/5.2.14"

so I guess this is okay, isn't it?

I am not sure that the installation of Apache is correct but the localhost displayed
"It works!"
as it was supposed to do. Isn't this enough? The icon of wamp is still yellow...
Regards,
georgia

It's not supposed to say that:

you have Microsoft iis server installed

Disable it

well wamp doesnt have a "it works" page

so you must have another sever installed. only standalone apache versions had it.. jamp and jetty too

any of these installed?

check port 80 usage

stand-alone apache will have "it works" page

After that I installed Apache 2.2 and PHP 5.
you need to uninstall stand-alone apache and php for this wamp to work winking smiley

I uninstalled the apache but now all javascripts do not work through localhost. How can I have them both (phpmyadmin plus javascript and php working)?

By the way sorry for the english!

I had trouble connecting to phpmyadmin via localhost as well... my problem ended up being that I am on win7x64 and the mysql service wasn't properly installing. so I downloaded mysql x64 from mysql.com and manually installed this and configured it (during setup). I set it to install to the exact same folders as originally done by wamp:

program: wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.1.50
data: wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.1.50\data\mysql

after setup/configuration was complete, I edited the phpmyadmin config.inc.php file to reflect the same password I used during the setup of mysql. now it connects no problem and everything is working as it should.

If your wamp manager icon is Orange then the problem is that Apache has not started. This is probably because something else is using port 80.

Do wampmanager -> Apache -> service -> Test Port 80

This will launch a cmd window and tell you what is using port 80, if anything.

Reconfigure whatever taht is to stop it using port 80 or Stop it or uninstall it, depending on what it is of course.
