Hi - I have checked and re-checked and one minute I was using wamperserver and localhost fine, and the next I cannot get on at all. I have nothing running on Port 80 so this is not the problem. Please advise? I am using Windows 7.

in folder C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc, open file hosts then delete everything in this file and have only this line and nothing else
127.0.0.1 localhost

Hi - I don't seem to have that "line" or file.... I only have hosts, lmhosts.sam, networks, protocols and services. Should I delete everything in the file? Thanks very much, I do appreciate the help!

Sorry, I mis-read..... tried it but does not seem to make a difference - although now it seems that it is a .txt file so is that what I have done wrong? Excuse my ignorance but how do I make it to a plain "file"? if that is the issue.... I dunno, one minute all was fine and then I couldn't get on. Driving me nuts :-)

dont use notepad to open it since it will auto save as text file and become useless, but you have to download and install notepad++ or editpad lite which can save the file as is w/ or w/o extension

Thank you - that is always handy to know. But it still is not working..... the only line at all left in that file is as instructed now and I deleted the "#" at the start of the line too..... any other ideas? I am not having fun! :-)
