how to use the php add ons

Hi all,
Sorry for such a newbie question but how do you use or install the php add ons.
I chose php 5.2.5 and when it finished downloading I ran it while I had the latest wamp running on windows 7 but after wamp just started to crash so I uninstalled wamp and restored my pc and reinstall wamp. Could someone help me with some directions I don't want to keep uninstalling wamp and restoring the pc after the crashes.

When installing the addon, stop all wamp services. Left click wamp tray icon and go to PHP > Versions and choose the addon you just installed. Wait for wamp tray icon to turn white again.

so stop wamp click on the addon let it install and then look for the version ok. I'll give it a go.
