Cannot establish a connection to the server at localhost

Hello

I am new to WampServer and have recently installed it and have had no success as yet getting it to display in my browser (firefox)

Message I receive on screen...
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost

I did have skype but have uninstalled it and restarted

I have checked port 80 via
wamp icon - Apache - Service - Test port 80 .... message is it is not actually being used

have typed [127.0.0.1] into browser however same message displays

tried turning firewall off... didnt make any difference

Have disabled IIS still no change

the wamp icon is red and white so I gather from what I have read that this is an indication of an error just not sure what..

Suggestions anyone??? This is doing my head in!

Thanks Steven...

although I had logged in as admin and changed security settings (firewall) I had installed software via my general login.

your suggestion prompted me to think further regarding admin side... I uninstalled wamp and deleted files from general login... then reinstalled via the admin login... doing it this way security then asked me if I wanted the firewall to grant access to this program!! (this was not viewed with general login)
