.htaccess and rewritebase

Hi people i need a little help,

I have several folders in my www directory all for different sites i am working on but i am having problems with the addressing. If i have a link within a folder to return to that sites index.php page it takes me back to the www directory index.php.

I thought about moving everything out of the www directory and just working on one site at a time but that didn't make sense and then i read about .htacces and rewritebase.

I think this is the solution but i have no idea how to do it, could anyone walk me through the process and give me an example of the .htaccess file i would need.

Thanks

Gareth Edwards

You will be better of creating a vhost for each site.

I have been working on that for the last couple of hours following the JLBN - Setup Virtual Hosts on WAMP procedure but if anyone is familiar, when i try to edit the hosts file in step 5 with notepad i get the following error?

Cannot create the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file.

Make sure the path and file name are correct.

Can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong? i searching around but can't seem to find anyone else that is having this problem.

Yep.
You can also move it to your desktop, modify it then move it back to system folder.
