localhost Issues

Hi, I have tried everything and I cannot log onto localhost. My firewall is disabled, IIS is not running and Apache is showing as listening on port 80. Any suggestions?

If it makes a difference, I use Vista as my OS...

Thanks,
Jackie

You do not need to login to local host. Whats happens when you go to [localhost] or [127.0.0.1]

Hi,

This is what I get when I go to 127.0.0.1... and then if I click on phpmyadmin I get a different looking error than I did before.

Also, thank you both for not calling me a dumbass. smiling smiley

Hey,

I found this on another post so I went and took a look...and I have nothing like this on my machine! I have a bunch of other "stuff" but no localhost.

Also, open file hosts in folder C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc and make sure you have only this line and nothing else

127.0.0.1 localhost

as stated, it should have only that line, so delete everything in that file and replace it with this only line
127.0.0.1 localhost
