Hi, im currently having problems connecting to the wamp homepage, on vista.

I changed the hosts file so that i can now connect to both localhost and 127.0.0.1, on both IE and firefox, but it simply goes to the "it works!" page rather than the wamp homepage.

Also, when i try to connect to phpmyadmin, it gives me a 404 not found message. Ive been looking for a while now and cant find the answer. Whats going on?

IIS and Apache/Wamp are both web server and might conflict in some way, so you have to disable IIS in order for Wamp to work

Disable IIS in Vista/Win7:

Control Panel, Uninstall Programs, Turn Widows Features On or Off, uncheck Internet Information Services

Disable IIS in XP:

Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components, uncheck Internet Information Services (IIS)

Restart computer, then restart Wamp

Also, open file hosts in folder C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc and make sure you have only this line and nothing else

127.0.0.1 localhost

Have you installed Apache separately before? This is Apache's default page when going to [localhost]

What color is wamp tray icon? it should be white. if its not something is wrong.

when it's yellow, it's not good, so you have to uninstall old apache, restart pc and restart wamp; if still not work, uninstall wamp, remove/rename wamp folder, restart pc, reinstall wamp winking smiley

Or it is yellow because mysql service is not running.
If he can see wamp index then apache is running fine..
