WampServer

I installed wampserver 2 on my windows XP system. When i try to start or put it on, i get an error message saying "Could not execute menu item (internal error) [exception] could not perform service action. The service has not been started",. Please somebody should help me rectify this problem cos i'm new in this.

I have the same problem! I'm using wamp for 2 years and this is the first time that happens. I read somewhere that apps like IIS, skype and nod32 are causing it. Is this true? I have NOD32, how can I solve this problem?

uninstall both wamp and nod32, remove wamp folder, restart pc, then reinstall wamp before nod32

Do'h, I found the problem. The Apache version has the problem. 2.2.11 works only.

This error appears when you click on an item in menu.
This item tells a service to restart whereas the service has not been started or installed...
It's a normal behaviour, but for some other commands it ignores errors and so, doesn't show anything...
Don't worry about that.

If you got a problem, it should how to start the named service...
There are many reason and NOD32 is one of them.

If there is no problem, start the Apache service (for example) from the menu :
Left click -> Apache -> Service -> Start/Resume Service
or if it is disabled (and gray) :
Left click -> Apache -> Service -> Install service

I got the same message, even though I have been using WAMPSERVER for a long time, turns out it was Skype. I just exited Skype, restarted all the WAMPSERVER services then turned Skype back on.
