Hi everybody smiling smiley

I've been using/running my wamp server for a while now with no problems at all.
I'm not sure which version I'm running though?
I know it's version 2.0*

How can I check which version I'm running.
If I need to update,which files do I need to keep so that I can be back online with no problems?

Thanks for all your helps.

Hi,

One solution is to see in your wampmanager.conf file.
If you haven't change phpmyadminVersion (as I think), check version with the current list :

2.0-a or b => older than 2.11.6
2.0-c => phpMyAdmin 2.11.6
2.0-d => phpMyAdmin 3.0.1.1
2.0-f => phpMyAdmin 3.1.1
2.0-g =>phpMyAdmin 3.1.3
2.0-h => phpMyAdmin 3.1.3.1

Hope it help you..

For update, you can save your bin\mysql\mysql_version\data, your conf files and your projects in www,
but when uninstalling wamp, it shouldn't delete those files.
To be sure, backup them. ;-)

Florian

Many thanks for reply toumimi smiling smiley

Seems I'm running 2g

I have a FULL copy of my wamp folder so I'll attempt an upgrade and see how it goes smiling smiley

Can I just install new wamp over the top or do I need to uninstall old version?

Many Thanks

I would recommend you to do a full backup of your wwww folder and backup your mysql databases via phpmyadmin.

To backup databases go to phpmyadmin and select the export tab at the top of the page.
Select the databases you wish to keep from the left. After scroll to the bottom of the page and check the "Save as File" checkbox followed by clicking the Go button. Save your backup to your desktop.

Do not copy the MySQL data folder! As doing so can corrupt your databases and is not the proper way for transferring/backing up your mysql databases.

Once you have done the backups uninstall WAMP and delete the remaining folders/files left over in C:/wamp. Now you're free to install the newer version of WAMP.

Once wamp is reinstalled move the contents of your older www folder to C:/wamp/www. Now to setup your databases again simply open phpmyadmin choose the Import tab

Thanks for the excellent tut smiling smiley

I'm probably just confusing myself but better safe than sorry.

Do you mean the DB in the 'export' box or further left than that?
[s143.photobucket.com]

When I click go it wants to save it as localhost.sql is that right?
I know I can rename it.

Looking at your screenshot it looks like you'll just need to backup the database named "stimulated". In Which case just left click if from the left menu (under where it says Select All / Deselect All).

Yes .sql is the default file extension used by phpMyAdmin for backups. You can change it if you wish but theres no need.
