Open file httpd.conf through wamp tray icon

Find:
# onlineoffline tag - don't remove
Order Deny,Allow
Deny from all
Allow from 127.0.0.1

Change to:
# onlineoffline tag - don't remove
Order Deny,Allow
Allow from all

Hi Anna.. All you need to do is left click the wamp icon > Put Online

The wamp icon will let you know if its online or offline. there is a black padlock in the icon if it is offline.

if its not there - its online

I have this problem also but do not have httpd.conf in my wampserver icon. I am on Windows 7 so where should I look? I did a search and found 2. C:\wamp\bin\apache2.2.17\conf and conf\original. can I edit these and if so, which one?

You can directly open file htpd.conf in folder C:\wamp\bin\apache2.2.17\conf

Open your localhost.

Mine had IIS7 running. If you stop it, it should work fine.

Make sure no other program conflict wamp such as Xampp, phpEasy, IIS, Skype, Zonealarm, firewall/antivirus, NOD32, Eset, any web and/or Remote Desktop related program, such as Teamviewer ...

IIS and Apache/Wamp are both web server and might conflict in some way, so you have to disable IIS in order for Wamp to work

Disable IIS in Vista/W7:

Control Panel, Uninstall Programs, Turn Widows Features On or Off, uncheck Internet Information Services

Disable IIS in XP:

Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components, uncheck Internet Information Services (IIS)

Restart computer, then restart Wamp

Also, in folder C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc, open file hosts and delete anything in this file and have only this line below and nothing else

127.0.0.1 localhost

If using Skype, go to Tools->Options->Advanced->Connection and uncheck the box "Use 80 and 443 as alternatives for incoming connections". Restart Skype after WAMP. Now you will be able to use both programs at the same time w/o problems.

That's funny, I finally got WAMPSERVER to go "online" by doing the exact opposite - changing "from all" to "from 127.0.0.1".

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem as if the services are actually running. MySQL apparently stops and it doesn't seem as if Apache ever starts. When I use explorer to visit [localhost] all I get is the 404 error.

Any ideas?

Robert

P.S. I was running XAMP but uninstalled it and I tried to edit the "host" file under Windows/System32/Drivers but Windows wouldn't let me save any changes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

copy hosts file to desktop, edit, save file then copy back to overwrite original file

My WAMP worked after installation and went offline after restart.
I found that my port 80 by used by MsDepSvc process.
Finding port 80 used by application by cmd> netstat -o -n -a | findstr 0.0:80
It gave me PID and from task manager I added coulmn PID in Process view and killed the PID for MsDepSvc.

After that restart all the services of wamp my right clicking on it start the server.

Thanks

it is strongly weird... no programs are using PORT 80.... however i've uninstalled WAMP, cleaned the registry, and i installed it again. At the first use it works, i've rebooted Pc and now it still works...

...so for me the problem is solved, but i don't know what was the problem before...

Thks

Hi,
I was hoping that I could get some help with this issue. I have read to many blogs to know what I am doing wrong and it is driving me crazy.

I installed wamp so that I could work with PHP, Apache, phpmyadmin. After the install I installed CakePHP. When I tried to use the phpmyadmin I incountered this problem "#2002 - The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not correctly configured)"

After countless hours I believe that I might have a port conflict, or a conflict with another program that I might have loaded on my machine.

Could someone please help me figure this one out.
