Notepad++ instead of notepad.exe

Hi,

I am new to WampServer and just installed it.

To view php.ini and similar files, I would like to use notepad++ instead of the default notepad.exe editor.

I tried replacing "notepad.exe" with "notepad++.exe" in "wampmanager.tpl". (Which I believe is used to create "wampmanager.ini".)

Unfortunately I get the error: "Could not execute menu item (internal error) [Exception] Could not execute run action: The system cannot find the file specified."

Also tried:
"C:\Program Files\Notepad++\notepad++.exe" and "C:\Progra~1\Notepad++\notepad++.exe"
But in these cases, I get an error about the configuration file when launching WampServer.

Does anyone have a suggestion about how to configure an alternate editor? (I prefer to use notepad++.exe instead of notepad.exe)

Thanks
Darcy

right click any .php file - goto "open with..." then "select program" select notepad ++ on the list and then tick the box below "always use the selected program to open this kind of file"

then click ok.
from now on just double click ur php files to open in notepad ++

Hi Steve,

I have the .php and .ini files associated with notepad++ in Windows...

What I am referring to is the WAMPSERVER menu. For example, select "PHP" >> "php.ini". The action associated with this menu item is to open php.ini with notepad.exe.

I would like to use notepad++.exe.

If you want to change the editor that wamp will launch when you click on one of the menu items of wamp manager (icon in the system menu) you have to edit the c:\wamp\wampmanager.tpl file

MAKE A BACKUP OF THIS FILE BEFORE CHANGING IT!!!

everywhere you see notpad.exe change it to the other editor that you want to use.

If the editor is on your windows PATH you can chnage it to, for example, notepad++.
If the editor is NOT on your path chnage it to be a fully qualified address for your editor, for example,
c:/windows/program files/notepadd++/notepad++.exe

When you have done this go to the wampmanager icon in the system tray and RIGHT click the icon and run 'Refresh', this will rebuild the wampmanager.ini file.
