OK this is what comes up:
Quote

C:\Documents and Settings\Lori>ipconfig

Windows IP Configuration

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected

Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

I entered 192.168.1.100:8080 and got the failure to connect

I have AVG antivirus with Firewall
I deactivated AVG entirely and I still get a page load error for everything

I typed in h ttp://192.168.1.1:8080 and got a Page Load Error...server taking too long to respond.

On My Linksys page, in the Management section the Remote Management is disabled (it lists the port as 8080)...do I need to enable this?

Well, guess what...the minute I installed AVG and restarted my computer...I can't access my localhost anymore.
I did reassign WampServer's ports to 82 after my reinstallation of the server (and before my reinstallation of AVG)

Ran all the same checks...same answers. SO....that's sort of telling me that it's an AVG problem.
Know of any good AV/Firewall programs that are known to play nice with WampServer?

Hi Icorbett,

I'm facing exactly the same issue to access the local host users privileges settings with even more recent releases of FF (3.0.4) , ZA Pro (7.0.483) and wampserver (2.0).

This generates several kind of problems and related messages, like :

- you should accept cookies to go further (approx. translation from the genuine french msg..)

- Missing parameter: format (FAQ 2.8) (during squery)

- import.php: Missing parameter: import_type (FAQ 2.8)

These last both occurs when you have gone further through other paths to set up a control user (SQL console), phpMyAdmin generate anyway other msgs preventing us from going further.

As for you, FF setting for cookies acceptance is fine. (and as for you, same issue with other browsers IE, Chrome..)

Deactivating completely ZA, phpMyAdmin allows me to affect new users and their rights, to create a new dB as well as new tables.

So the problem is coming from the cookies setting within ZA (privacy)

DID YOU FIND A SOLUTION for setting the cookies acceptance rules keeping using ZA ?
(ie how did you tune ZA ?)

Thx in advance

Hum 3 yrs later:

At memory, I contacted the ZA support, but they could not solve the problem. So I just add to remove ZA. Even if it's a good one for other stuffs. Provided that it was not a big deal in my case, as my ISP box embeds also a linux firewall "built-inside" the box.

So I guess you need to make sure that you have a firewall installed as a front end to your wamp machine. In my case, I then switched to a DMZ solution, with a dedicated Linux machine to firewaling, on top of the subnets behind the FW. But that's more complex to handle.

But there might be less painful solutions, like trying another software firewall, like avast for example.
