1. I use Wamp with ESET Smart Security fully enabled (automatic mode) with no problems, for years now. The only case in which I needed to add allow wamp (2.4) manually was on older versions of ESET, but just when I needed access to my server from outside the LAN.

2. For those having skype starting with windows, you should always start skype after wampserver icon turns green. So start wamp first, then use the other software that might need to use port 80.

Just my 2 cents, I hope it helps... smiling smiley

Hi Ciprian,

You can actually configure SKYPE so that it never tries to use port 80 or 443.

How to Configure SKYPE so it does not require port 80 or 443

Run SKYPE
then using the menus do this:

Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Connection

Un-Check the checkbox next to 'Use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incomming connections'

Now restart SKYPE for these changes to take effect.

If you are running Windows 8/81 SKYPE comes as an app and this cannot ( as yet ) be configured in this way.
However if you uninstall the SKYPE app and install SKYPE for windows in the old way, you can reconfigure it, and it works just as well.

it may occur due to ports, so solve it

Go to Wampsever->Apache->httpd.conf and just change the line

Listen 0.0.0.0:80 Listen [::0]:80 as Listen 0.0.0.0:8080 Listen [::0]:8080

*copy the lines find & replace..

here is the solution in youtube [www.youtube.com]

NO. There will be TWO lines!
Listen 0.0.0.0:8080
Listen [::0]:8080

It's not because it's on Youtube, it is necessarily the right solution.
The only good solution was given by RiggsFolly: it is tell Skype to use ports other than 80 or 443.

Http protocol uses ports 80 and 443; so let use these ports. Otherwise you will have to call ALL url by adding to each call the port number, for example: (http://localhost:8080).

After lots of attempts and reinstalls, I got mine working by changing the symbolic link under windows 7.
file: C:\wamp\bin\apache\apache2.4.9\bin\php.ini
was originally linked to go to: c:/wamp/bin/php/php5.5.12/phpForApache.ini
Changed it to: c:/wamp/bin/php/php5.5.12/php.ini

Restarted everything, and it all worked. Even fixed my mysql not starting.

Hi rmari,

In WAMPServer Apache should be looking at phpForApache.ini for its php settings.

Yours is not a solution.

If you have a problem please start a new Thread and describe your issue completely.

Thanks RigsFolly.

I thought this was the correct thread since it started with the same error message: "Could not execute menu item (internal error)...

I noticed that all the php extensions had error flags indicating no file found. and the php settings menu had nothing in its list.

The final solution that I found to my problem was not to change the php.ini symbolic link in the apache bin directory, but to alter the scripts/refresh.php file and change add line 123 to

$c_phpConfFile="C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.5.12\php.ini";

this way just the scripts/refresh.php file looks at the correct php.ini
Otherwise, refresh will try to read the phpForApache.ini and it does not contain the correct setting for refresh to work.

If this is correct, then the proper fix would be to use appropriate system variables to set $c_phpConfFile

Would you like me to open another thread for this?
