I use Filezilla server and it works well. Normal security precautions should be taken, including usernames and passwords, and accepting FTP connections only from IP subnets you trust.
HELP ......... I have installed wamp5 all running like a dream trying to install filezilla server .. have followed instructions and setup users as described above but still cannot access ftp ( via terapin ) just keep getting server has rejected the connection ..
thanks fir the response .... i have disbaled the firewall when testing, and have setup th eports to listen for as 21 binding is setup as * (all is i understand ), dont get no username or password prompt at all ...
one other thing that consuses me .. when i installed it says server ip as 127.0.0.1 is that right ? when i change it to my ip address is sasys it wont connect ??
thansk for your help but think i may need a bit more !!! lol
!27.0.0.1 is localhost which is what it should be, from FTP server's point of view. When you are using the FTP client, you need to use the WAMP server's internal or private IP address when inside the LAN and the external or public IP address when you connect from the internet. You need to forward the FTP port from your router to the internal IP address of your WAMP server, but this only applies when connecting from outside.

I dont get this part at all! What am I supposed to do? Make a .txt file with the title of it user1 in my "C:/wamp/www/" folder or what? You didnt explain this thoroughly. I really need to fid this info out!!!
I have been searching all over the net for information on where to place it in wamp? This thread is great for information but does not state where to actually put ftp server. Where in C:wamp is it to be placed?
depends on ftp server you try to use; if using script, you can put it inside wamp folder; otherwise, just accept default location when installing; after finishing installation, go to settings/options/configurations to setup users ;-)
1st installed wamp server5 2nd installed Joomla ! Went through set up, didn't set FTP settings, removed installation folder. Can't access admin panel. do i need to set FTP settings? how? 3rd installed free Joomla template, doesn't render the template just a file directory of contents, PHP pages, images etc..
Frustrated with whole thing.
Step by step instructions would be excellent, anyone?

I have a question. whether in filezilla we enter that address .. My mean is C:/wamp/www/user1
I am having trouble understanding how to connect localhost Wampserver64 with FileZilla so I can change permissions on the wp-contant, wp-plugin. Then I will be able to update the plugin.
