WampServer

Hello. I have been using wamp and I need to get back to my web development project.

I installed WAMP 2.0, and typed in my details, which email address to use, what host (localhost) and then pressed finish. After everything was started I clicked on the WAMP widget and then clicked localhost.

Every time I do that, it redirects to www.localhost.com instead of [localhost]

I'm stumped! I've tried everything I can think of. Would someone help me resolve this?

yes this is your hosts files doing this... or you have a type of msn search page... that wen it cant find it it trys that



so first try

"http ://localhost" in your browser


if not... open the hosts file in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

and make sure the only line with the word localhost in it is

127.0.0.1 localhost



delete any other lines with it in it

I did all that and it still redirects.

P.S. I'm using FireFox

wat colour is your wamp icon ?

white?

red and white?

yellow and white?

Yup, that worked. ... What about localhost?

i think look again at your host file..

This is what my host file says:

in your hosts file.

then type in http:/ /wamp


i think u have a virus that is doing that to be honest

Well, I did a virus scan, removed the tracking cookies and tried again and it still doesn't work.

Any other Ideas?

Okay. I got it fixed. I read to uninstall IP V6 protocol, and it fixed the problem.

I got a eureka solution like Archimedes.
The main culprit is any of anti-virus programs.
I installed NOD32 by ESET and it's so efficient that my computer was incapable of opening localhost.
That's why the browser redirected.
After uninstalling the %#&kin anti-virus, I'm at once able to view localhost correctly.
I'm not saying you follow me by uninstalling your anti-virus programs but check them out and make your own decision.

Dear MrFixit ne MrBodgeit,

Not a very satisfactory solution.

All you need to do is tell your AntiVirus/Firewall that TCP is allowed to flow on port 80.
Look up how to do that in the docs of your chosen AV/FW

I think I have the same problem.. I read what you have done, but it didn't work.. Some other ideas..? It is urgent..!!

Then its not the same problem. Please start a new thread and describe you problem fully.

I fixed in 1 step --using this:
I was using default browser : firefox
go to help>>troubleshoot information>>reset Firefox
all good.
