Linking Domain name to my server ???

Hello

I am well and truly stuck,

I have been running wamp server from home for some time and people that need access can access it with my external IP, so all is great.

On Saturday I registered a domain name with fast2host so i can use it for my server.

Fast2host have DNS management so i have set up 3 A records pointing to my external IP, @, www and * replacing the 3 redirects they set it up with that point to there 'this domain is parked' page.

72hours + later it is not working

Fast2host also have 4 nameserver options, 2 of them are set to there name servers, 2 are blank, i have changed nothing here.

I have read this guide
[pampserver.com]

After reading this i have changed my PC's IP to static, although i dont think this is a huge step as it is the only thing connected to the router that is always on and the ip has been the same for as long as i can remember.

One point i have picked up from the guide, if i type my external IP into a browser followed by :80 it takes me to the login for my router,

I have port forwarding set up for 80 and 8080, if i use 8080 in the browser it gives me a connection reset error, but i think wamp is running on 80 not 8080, and if some one else types my IP into a browser they get my site so again i don't think there is a problem here.

I have edited nothing into the Apache config file about my domain name, i don't know if any thing is needed.

Sorry to waffle on a bit but i am hoping i have included enough info that some one will be able to help me link my domain name to my server.

Thank You

I don't think they do, my site is available via my IP address, if they block port 80 it would not be avaliable via that method either would it?

yes this is correct...
in the router you should forward for 80 to 80 on the intenal ip

external port 80
internal port 80
ip 192.168.1.x

all this should be ok tho because its working from your ip address.

so on the hosting site... you have filled in your ip address? are u trying [yoururl.com]

and [www.yoururl.com]

On my router i dont have options like that for port forwarding, it just asks for the port and the internal IP to link it to, which is all done.

On fast2host i have changed the 3 records that they set up by default,
Now i have

www
@
*

A records all pointing at my external IP

the url is [keithdrayton.xxx.xxx] or [www.keithdrayton.xxx.xxx] but i think that is currently pointing at a fast2host parked page, but that isnt working either if it has had time to be known as that again

Thanks

I have sent a ticket in to fast2host, selected urgent on priority smiling smiley hopefully they can give it a kick.
I did do a lookup and noticed that bit, but with everything else saying its active i just thought that it was 'paper work' if you get what i mean.
Thanks for the help, much appreciated

yfastud
the info i wanted steve to edit was my postal address from a whois lookup he posted, he has done that, thanks any way.

The problem turned out to be fast2hosts name servers, as of yet i dont know why, but i have fixed the problem by registering at everydns and putting there name servers into fast2host system for my domain, all is now working,

I have not read those guides yet, but will do, why are www @ and * not right?
www is the record for [www.mydomain.co.uk]
@ is the record for [mydoamin.co.uk]
as of yet not sure what the * record is for.

* is wildcard and it's good if you know how to use it, and not good if somebody else take advantage of it :-(
