How to access wamp from outside of local home network

Hello,
I ahve read JLBN's guides but am still struggling to get this working. We use a D-Link DSL G604T and I ahve been to the port forwarding scetion and tried but I don;t really understand what I need to put into the boxes.

Do I need a static ip or not? (are are currently using DHCP)

I can't understand If on a pc external to my network how by typing our external ip:80 will point it to port 80 on my computer if the external ip is for the entire home network.

and yes I do have wamp set to put online.

I would appreciate any detailed help and /or step by step guides for our router

Regards,
Neil

Protocol:

Right, Can I set my pc to ahve a static ip even if the rest of the devices on the home network are dynamic and how do i make sure that my static ip is not given to another pc dynamically by the router?

Maybe I would spend a little more time for that guide. Anyway, use cmd w/ command ipconfig/all to check your computer ip which should be in format 192.168.xxx.xxx; then in browser, you have to login your router first. Different browser have different name for setting up port forward, so check your router manual to find out which name it uses, ie Port Forward, Virtual Server, Services... and setup port forward as follows

Service name: HTTP
Start port: 80
End port: 80
Server IP address: 192.168.xxx.xxx

And in your case:

Rule Name: HTTP
Protocol: TCP/DP
Port Start: 80
Port End: 80
Port Map: 192.168.xxx.xxx

Rule Name: anything
Protocol: TCP
Port Start:8080
Port End:8080
Port Map: I92.168.x.xx:80

change is th the x.xx to ur computers internal ip address

get it by going to start , run type in cmd

wen the black box opens type in ipconfig and press enter and its the one called IP Address

then get NO-IP software and on the site set up account with port 80 redirect

fill in the nessarcy details

now ur site will be accessible using the domain name than u gave on the site such as www.yourname.biz

or use ur exterbal ip like 86.42.12.12:8080 to connect ur pc

ul find ur external ip on whatsmyip.com

Using those settings I get this message:

Please select a End Map as asn integer.

Also in the protocol box I can choose 1 of 3 options:

TCP,
UDP,
TCP/UDP

which?

And could you answer my question in my previous post?

Thanks

just tcp ... i guess ur router cant supply port sending internally

Rule Name: anything
Protocol: TCP
Port Start:8080
Port End:8080
Port Map: I92.168.x.xx

use this

then connect to ur computer using ur external ip addrss with 8080 at the end

xx.xx.x.xxx:8080

if u dont have a static ip u cant get one...

wen we talk about static ip we mean ur external ip

not ur internal ip

if u turn off ur router and turn it back on

and check whatsmyip again

if its changed then u have a dynamic ip
