images from subdirectories
Posted by: mystrymaster (---.dyn.optonline.net)

I can get my images out of the images directory I created the following folder structure in that folder

/images/ads/topBanners/ [top banner images here]

However I can't see them on any pages and I can't even navigate to them directly by typing in

localhost/images/ads/topBanners/imageA.jpg

I get nothing.

Any help?

It is white. All the rest of the files are being served fine and the images out of the images directory are served fine. just not the subdirectories from within.

In that case, make sure you didn't get the typo or wrong file name :-(

I was able to serve the image when I moved it to the image directory.

I didn't write to image link Dreamweaver did and wrote both of them (the one in the subdirectories, and the one in just the image directory) and I only get the one served from the image directory.

I know the issue has to be with apache I just can't figure out what or why.

After Dreamweaver finish the page, did you check to make sure it create the correct path for your image?

Yeah I have handcoded as well - I was pointing out Dreamweaver to avoid the typo issue.

The paths are 100% correct.

I have even tried to type in the path

[localhost]

Where image.jpg is the name of an image in there and get nothing but when I copy image.jpg to images/
and type the following

[localhost]

I get the image

Instead type the link, try this: left on wamp tray icon then localhost and keep click on folder until you can click on the image to see if you can open it. If you do, then copy the link, close the browser, open different browser and paste the link to see if it works

Alright so I can't open the ads folder in the images directory it just serves up a blank page no source at all.

I am going to delete the directories and then try again.

Alright Recreating the directories in the images folder did not work

However I figured out that the problem is the second level.

I created at root an ads folder then threw in all the images and it worked fine. The images served up and I was able to navigate the folder and see the files.

So I added a topBanners folder in the ads folder and then was unable to navigate that folder or the images contained in it.

So my issue is the second level.

Any idea?

That's weird. Before replied, I've already tested down about 10 sub-folder levels and have no problem at all.

Did you ever edit config file? Email your httpd.conf to yfastud (at) jlbn (dot) net

[knasboll.sytes.net]

Why could this be? I cant figure it out why the pic will not show, just the top pixels.

When I had the wampserver installed on a different server it worked but now with a better one it just comes out that way. Could be firewall or something but I have tryed to close it and more other stuff but it will still not work. Could just need some toughts what it could be.

imageA.jpg was simply an example as I wasn't home to check for an exact image name

The example you have is for a different image

here is the tag

<a href='http://www.linkfacts.com/l.php?l=8021' target='_blank'><img src='images/ads/topBanners/FleetOne_0207.jpg' alt='Fleet 1' border='0' /></a>

look right under the body tag
