IIS and apache/wamp are both web server and both use port 80, so you have to disable IIS in order for wamp to work

Disable IIS in Vista:

Uninstall Programs, Turn Widows Features On or Off, uncheck Internet Information Services

Disable IIS in XP:

Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components, uncheck Internet Information Services (IIS)

Restart computer, then restart wamp

From what you get, it's most likely you've already has IIS or any other web server running. If you don't even know what running on your computer, I'm afraid I'm not able to help

i just fixed it. i noticed that there was no index page in my www folder so i reinstalled the wanp2. Apache is using port 80. I can now view my localhost page. i dont have IIS in my XP home edition, its also surprising to me . Thanks .
