WampServer

I have installed a phpbb forum on my pc using wampserver. I got a webhosting with hostgator and transfered all the files in C:\wamp\www\Forum to the public_html folder. there was a .htaccess file already in that folder and I overwrote it. Is this how I am supposed to install the forum on my webhost ? When I had initially installed the forum on my pc I had set localhost for the server, am I supoosed to change that and how ? (since after installing it on my pc I deleted the install directory)

If you own only one website domain, then in httpd.conf file, You can set up a ServerName as your website name and document root points to C:\wamp\www where your website is stored. The httpd.conf file has lots of comments which are self-understandable, and clearly explained.

It's easier to setup phpbb by unpacking it from the archive and then copying it straight to the webhost. Then go to your website and configure it from there and once you're done delete the install folder.
