Apache suddenly stopped working?

Hey. I was in the process of creating a website - slowly but surely. The first thing I did was register my domain name through smallbusiness.yahoo.com (i only use yahoo for any of my web needs for some reason) and then I set up apache, php, mysql (the works) and everything worked fine. I changed my records on yahoo to point to my IP, i allowed port 80 HTTP open on all fire walls and everythig worked fine. I could access www.creactiveonline.com and so could others who were on different internet connections than me.

And then last night everything suddenly stopped working. Now I always get this:

" Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:
Diagnose Connection Problems

More Information "

Last night when I hit Diagnose Connection Problems it told me that windows has confirmed the website is online but something was blocking Port 80. I re-checked everything and that is impossible from as far as I can see it.

After about an hour of checking I went back and tried it again - thought it was temporary. It still pulled up that same page, so I hit diagnose connection problems AGAIN...

THIS TIME it pulled up an error saying something (I forgot the exact wording) about the MPFP Packet Inbound Filter not allowing any more connections or something...

I researched it and read that it usually fixes itself in a couple of hours. So I went to bed.. And now I'm awake and I tried it again - Now it's back to saying the Port 80 thing.. I'm confused. I've restarted my computer, checked my HTTPD.conf file and everything... Can't find anything wrong.

Anyone have experience with this?

I'm running windows vista home basic on an Alienware laptop, that's only a few months old.

EDIT: By the way - When I go to [localhost] It works perfectly fine, everything shows up as normal. Only when i try to go to the actual site.

first- empty the histpry in ur browser. they have a habit of caching pages and never checking for new ones.

there is setting to make it check everytime.

anyway if that doesnt work paste up ur httpd.conf file

It didn't work - Here is my httpd.conf file:

#
# This is the main Apache HTTP server configuration file. It contains the
# configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
# See <URL:[httpd.apache.org]; for detailed information.
# In particular, see
# <URL:[httpd.apache.org];
# for a discussion of each configuration directive.
#
# Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
# what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure
# consult the online docs. You have been warned.
#
# Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
# of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
# server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do *not* begin
# with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/foo.log"
# with ServerRoot set to "C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2" will be interpreted by the
# server as "C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2/logs/foo.log".
#
# NOTE: Where filenames are specified, you must use forward slashes
# instead of backslashes (e.g., "c:/apache" instead of "c:\apache"winking smiley.
# If a drive letter is omitted, the drive on which Apache.exe is located
# will be used by default. It is recommended that you always supply
# an explicit drive letter in absolute paths, however, to avoid
# confusion.
#

# ThreadsPerChild: constant number of worker threads in the server process
# MaxRequestsPerChild: maximum number of requests a server process serves
ThreadsPerChild 250
MaxRequestsPerChild 0

#
# ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
# configuration, error, and log files are kept.
#
# Do not add a slash at the end of the directory path. If you point
# ServerRoot at a non-local disk, be sure to point the LockFile directive
# at a local disk. If you wish to share the same ServerRoot for multiple
# httpd daemons, you will need to change at least LockFile and PidFile.
#
ServerRoot "c:/wamp/bin/apache/apache2.2.6"

#
# Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or
# ports, instead of the default. See also the <VirtualHost>
# directive.
#
# Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to
# prevent Apache from glomming onto all bound IP addresses (0.0.0.0)
#
#Listen 12.34.56.78:80
Listen 80

#!c:/program files/perl/perl

# Note you _must_not_ indent the actual shebang line, and it must be the
# first line of the file. Of course, CGI processing must be enabled by
# the appropriate ScriptAlias or Options ExecCGI directives for the files
# or directory in question.
#
# However, Apache on Windows allows either the Unix behavior above, or can
# use the Registry to match files by extention. The command to execute

# These script actions can be configured from the Windows Explorer View menu,

Yes, it exists. Exact same spelling, no caps.

The thing is i don't think it's the httpd.conf file because prior to this happening I never touched it so unless it edited itself, then it really couldn't be it could it?

I checked windows firewall - It allows port 80, I checked McAfee firewall, it allows port 80..

I deleted Norton cause I never use it..

I deleted AOL cause I didn't know if it had a firewall of its own..

Restarted comuter many times, restarted Apache many times..

i duno but yes u should,

how did u fill in the pinhole? this is really where u mistake could be???
the ip address im talking about is the ipaddress of the computer- not ur external id address

i forgot how exactly I did the pinhole thing - but i did it through a tutorial about setting up apache w/ the linksys router.

The router is set up though to accept them, i checked when the problem first occured. I'll edit the httpd.conf file when I get home, see if setting up to my computer IP address works that way. so it should be

ServerName localhost: 192.168.1.1

but instead of that, it would be my personal IP address for my computer.

IS it possible that the computer IP address changed somehow and maybe thats why it isn't working?

yes .. you see its simple if u think of a letter in post.

you send it with address...

all websites by nature use 80

but ur router wont let it thru

the pinhole takes the signal on a different port to get it thru
then it attaches it the computers ip address running the server which you filled in to the router back as port 80

iv seen the servername wrong before and it still works but

if ur pinhole ip address does not match the machine it will never find it

servername 192.168.1.1 just makes it easier to find the right info

anyway

wen u get home first check the ip address of ur computer running the server and make sure it matches the port redirect you put into the router.

Nope. I edited the httpd.conf file and changed the servername to my computer IP address 192.168.1.106 (if i'm correct, that's what McAfee is telling me it is) and it's still not working.

God this is frustrating.

That is so weird that yours stops working at the same time mine stops working.

My WAMP server was working just fine right up to today. I didn't modify my http.conf file. The only thing I can think I did different was adding the Apache module "rewrite_module." It kept working after that though.

Is it a coincidence that both of ours stopped working the same week when I can't find anything else on this problem?

Have you tried altering this setting to your INTERNAL IP, and then make sure your router/Firewall is NATting it properly, instead of using localhost?
