Hey guys
THIS SOLVED IT FOR ME
---------------------
Just if anyone is looking for a different solution to having WAMP's LOCALHOST & 127.0.0.1 BOTH work.
I have tried everything (literally) and nothing worked, UNTILL...I downloaded the apache addon 2.2.3 from the WAMP website.
Where Wookiee where???? Well... relax chill out. Follow these instructions and see if they help you.
1) [
www.wampserver.com]
- click that link
- yes sorry guys, you have to click a couple of times
2) Scroll down
- OMG, no one said anything about scrolling!!!
- Find "Download Apache Addons" (nasty but effective yellow button (this is 14 march 2012, don't blame me if its green all a sudden)
3) Click it
- Yes, clicking is very effective if you want to resolve issues!
4) Wait for the popup to appear
- Oh get on with it already!!
5) Click a later version of Apache
- Where bloody hell?? Just scroll down in the popup, to the left bottom of the popup
- I selected apache 2.2.3 (why? because it was one version later than the one that came with WAMP)
6) Wait for the external link to appear
- Waiting waiting oh there it is!!
7) Save the file
- No comments here
8) Run the file
- Yes just install it already
9) Click the little WAMP icon in your system tray
- That little area next to your date, skype (yes you CAN have skype too) etc...
10) Go to Apache > Version > 2.2.3
- Click it
- You might have to restart your wamp, but i didnt have to
- Remember to CLOSE your browsers, re-open them, oh my, might even have to clear your cache.
Now BOTH [
127.0.0.1] AND [
localhost] works in Opera, IE8, Firefox
Don't thank me if this works, just go get a drink, think of something corny to reply with.
Obviously this clearly means that all the host file changes, config file changes etc... mentioned in all the fixes was not the ONLY issue, the issue was with Apache 2.2.21
