Hello everybody,

I just installed WampServer. When I try to open [localhost] I am prompted to login?!?!?! Why? I did not set up any password during the installation. Any help?

Thank you

Fabrizio

IIS and apache/wamp are both web server and both use port 80, so you have to disable iis in order for wamp to work

Disable IIS in Vista:

Uninstall Programs, Turn Widows Features On or Off, uncheck Internet Information Services

Disable IIS in XP:

Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components, uncheck Internet Information Services (IIS)

Restart computer, then restart wamp

In Programs and Features->Turn Win F. On/Off-> unchecking IIS -> Pressing ok. After that i rebooted my machine.

Dear members,

I installed Wamp Server 2.0 onto my PC in accordance with the instructions given on this site.

I started the server and checked that both services are running.

When trying to start PhpAdmin I get the following message:

Welcome to phpMyAdmin 2.10.1

ErrorMySQL said: #2003 - Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)

I use Windows XP
I closed Skype (which uses port 80)
The server status is “offline”

Do I need to configure any of the original settings in config.inc.php?

Any ideas?

Thank you, it worked!

I run into something more. I am trying to install Joomla on my machine. Everything went fine till I had to configure MySQL. I am prompted for the name of the database to be used, where do I find it? I supposed that WAMPS set one up during intsallation, didn't it?

Looking forward to your reply,

Fabrizio
