Hi,

I just setup WampServer 2.0. The following error message shows up while trying to open up phpMyAdmin 2.10.1

"phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in config.inc.php and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server.

Error
MySQL said: Documentation
#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)"

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Swarup

Yfa I cannot even get to the screen shown in your setuppw2.jpg. I am stopped cold at the error message:

"phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in config.inc.php and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server.

Did you ever use phpmyadmin or mysql console to setup password?

If yes, go to step 6 and follow on

If no, open the file config.inc.php in folder C:/wamp/apps/phpmyadmin2.10.1 and find this line:

$cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = 'TakeOutAnythingInThisSingleQuote'; // MySQL password (only needed

Do as advised, then save the file, shut down and exit wamp. After restart wamp, start all over to setup password

I guess Im confused on the part where you find the line:
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = 'TakeOutAnythingInThisSingleQuote'

Mine is $cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = '' and I dont know if I should be changing it or what?

Oh, I see. add your password BETWEEN the two single quotes after the = sign. For instance:
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = 'your password goes here'
Does that help?

yfasud, I have come to you with this 1045 problem in phpmyadmin.

Some time ago I have installed the wamp server2, got Joomla 1.5 installed, ceated the website on local.
I have since installed joomla on the remote server and wanted to upload the databases from local to remote with phpmyadmin.
I got the above error starting phpmyadmin on wamp (every thing else is working well (so it seems)).

I searched the web for solutions;
Reset mysql with a new password with; mysqld-nt.exe -u root --skip-grant-tables in one doswindow
Then updated the password with; update user set password = 'newpassword'where user = 'root'
I have tried your install & setup guide on top, but so far no change.

What am I overlooking?

I set the password in mysql to say 'xxxx'
set the pasword in $cfg['servers'][$i]['password'] = 'xxxx'
also set blowfish to 'xxxx'

I have also tried the blanks.

Can you please help,

thx, Hans

Hi,

I'm getting the same error as swaruprajsekar:

#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)" .

I have a bit of a unique situation though.

I installed WAMP 2.0 and had it up and running just fine. Someone came on to the same server and tried to install APACHE 2.0.63 as a seperate installation and began playing w/ the htpasswd.exe command.

I'm not sure what they did and I can barely get the mySQL to start now, so I uninstalled WAMP then reinstalled it.

Unfortunately I keep getting the same error.

Yfastud: I actually followed your guide the first time and it went quite smoothly. This second time, it doesn't work at all for me. I'm not sure if he changed the password or what, but even when I perform a complete uninstall / reinstall, I end up with the same problem.

I'm not quite sure where to go from here as even reinstalling WAMP proves to be unsuccessful.

Any and all help is of course very much appreciated smiling smiley

htpasswd.exe is good to setup encrypted password, but if you're new to wamp, you should not use it or let anyone use it on your computer.

Anyway, after uninstall wamp and other apache, you need to clean up all registries and restart computer before re-install wamp. Wamp's registries are wampapache and wampmysql, and regular apache's registry should be apache

yfastud,

Still no success. I uninstalled every trace of wamp and apache. I then went into the registry and removed every item that had wamp, wampapache, wampmysql or apache. I restarted / reinstalled wamp and I'm still getting the same error.

After searching around the boards & net, I'm still out of options, lol.

Any other ideas as to what may be causing this error?

Much thanks!

-KennyG

-------------

UPDATE: I seem to be having trouble running mySQL. I start it, and it runs very briefly, but then shuts down again and stays off until I try to run it again.

Could be causing my error? What would be the most likely cause of this given my problem?

I solved with following steps..

Step1: Go to Control Panel
Step2: Click Administrator Tools
Step3: Click Services
Step4: Find MySQL Service
Step5: Right click and click stop
Step6: Now Restart Wampserver

I don't know whether it will work for all.
