Fresh Install ->403 Forbidden

I'm trying to evaluate WAMP5 for a project, however I've hit a snag.

This is a fresh install to Windows 2000 test box, [127.0.0.1] and [localhost] are serving 403.

Any ideas? I've searched the forum, but am unable to find a clear answer.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe you should load IIS that comes with windows?
If that doesn't work then I really don't know.

Cheers

Hi,

A wild guess: if you have the default W2K setup, I believe it has IIS enabled by default. It is best to uninstall it from Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs - Windows Components.

You could first check which service if any has port 80 open by running 'netstat -an' or 'netstat -ao' at the command prompt.

@student101 & toivo - IIS is not an option and not currently installed.

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough... I've used WAMP5 on XP machines prior to this evaluation without this issue arising.

Furthermore, a test of port 80 shows that is in fact being used by Apache.

Solved.

the http-vhosts.conf file located in:

C:\wamp\Apache2\conf\default\httpd-vhosts.conf

as well as:

C:\wamp\Apache2\conf\extra\httpd-vhosts.conf

needed the dummies removed/replaced.
