Wamp2 is NOT upgradable from older version, so make sure to backup all current data and db before moving to new wamp2; better try it on non server such as laptop or so before working on live servers

This is a dirty hack I just did since my wamp 5 apache failed to start. All it needs is renaming folders . It is not upgrade but the fastest way without downloading all databases and transferring files

OK here we go

1) simply uninstall the wamp5, all your databases and files will still be there no worry ,
once you are done

2) rename the wamp folder to wamp1 and all subfolders EXCEPT www ! example :
rename folder script to script 1 and so on

3) download wamp 2 and install it , test that it works

4) copy all files inside the wamp folder
5) go to wamp1 and paste all of them override the index.php if you are asked to

6) go to mysql1/data/ copy all databases folders except

mysql
test

7) go to wamp1/bin/mysql/mysql5.0.45/data

8) paste the folders

9) now rename wamp to wamp2 and wamp1 to wamp

10) restart your computer

11) go to your phpmyadmin you will see all databases , if you had additional db users in previous installation just recreate them

all done

reason I did it this way is because I had over 40 sites installed and it would take me a whole day to copy all the files .

this way I have all files still backed up from old wamp5

Most advance users know that this trick only work w/ MyISAM db but will definitely NOT work w/ InnoDB, so again, if you have different types of db or use some free cms, for example, osCommerce using InnoDB which can't just copy the folder, make sure to have proper db backup/restore or will lose them forever.
