#1130 - Host 'localhost' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server

Can anyone help with the solution to this problem. I changed the root password with mysqladmin and got this. I updated the password field in the config.inc here : $cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = ''; . I uninstall/reinstall already


#1130 - Host 'localhost' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server

last line on log file is:

Found invalid password for user: 'root@localhost'; Ignoring user

won't allow me to go back to edit or remove password
