mysql daemon doesn't start

Hi all :-)
I'm a new WampServer user.
A fresh installation of WampServer on WinXP-sp2 seems to work fine except the mysql daemon.
Once the installation procedure has finished, //localhost/index.php works fine: all the "flags" are green.
When I try to start all services, Apache service starts but MysSql does not.
I'v tried to start the service manually through WinXP service (wampmysqld service) but I've got a message like "
it's not possible to start wampmysqld on local pc - error 1067 - unexpected end of process".
Anyone may help me ?
Thanks in advance

Maurizio

If you don't have any other app using port 3306, try uninstall it, delete wamp folder, clean wampapache and wampmysql in registry, restart computer, then reinstall wamp

Thanks !

I've uninstalled Wamp, tried deeply cleaning of my directories and registry, reinstalled Wamp but it doesn't work ... wampmysql service can't start.

I found a mysql.log file in wamp logdir:

"071130 16:42:16 [ERROR] Default storage engine (InnoDcool smiley is not available
071130 16:42:16 [ERROR] Aborting
071130 16:42:16 [Note] wampmysqld: Shutdown complete"

After substitution, in my.ini, of "default-storage-engine=INNODB" with "default-storage-engine=MyISAM" the daemon starts and evrything works fine.

May a consider this one a real solution to my problem, or just a workaround ?

Thanks
