Hi there,
I have WAMP 2.0 installed on Windows 2000 Server with the IIS service and firewall disabled. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and this problems still persists.

With a fresh install of WAMP, Apache seems to start but MySQL does not. If I check the mysql.log there is an error:

071128 15:14:39 [ERROR] Default storage engine (InnoDcool smiley is not available
071128 15:14:39 [ERROR] Aborting
071128 15:14:39 [Note] wampmysqld: Shutdown complete

If I check the Windows Event Viewer I have an error that says:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7031
Date: 11/28/2007
Time: 3:14:39 PM
User: N/A
Computer: WIN2KSERVER
Description:
The wampmysqld service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 6 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No action.

What do I need to do to fix this?

Hi,

I met the same problem.

In the "wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.0.45" directory I found "my.ini" file.

Setting there the default storage engine to "MyISAM" instead of "INNODB" everything seem to work fine.

I don't know if this is The Solution, almost a solution, or simply a workaorund ... but it works :-)
