How to run a perl script

Hello I am using your excellent Wamp on Windows xp to test my websites. I am used to using php/mysql but not perl.

I downloaded Active Perl and installed it into the default C:\Perl folder
I downloaded a script [linux.softpedia.com] and unzipped it into the Wamp www folder but I have no idea what to do next.

In simple terms, how do I now run this script? I suppose:

Start the perl.exe program and then??

Thanks

Hi,

Assuming that you have added the perl bin folder into the PATH environment variable, you can go to the command prompt, change directory to where the perl application resides and type in, for example:

perl phpxref.pl

You should download the official Perl add-on from this site or on my site here:

[downloads.jlbn.net]

Then, follow the guide for setup Perl on my site

Thanks - what does the Perl addon install? Perhaps it is in one of your guides but I cannot connect to the [guide.jlbn.net] link when clicking on your Guides icon.

I managed to get Perl working before reading your post by downloading Active Perl, installing it into the default c:/perl directory and then adding the correct path to each perl file (a pain!) and then called the script name thus:

[localhost]

The biggest pain is changing the path to the perl program e.g. - #!d:/Perl/bin/perl.exe to #!c:/Perl//perl.exe. Some of the Perl programs have a lot of file and each one needs to be opened and altered to correct the path. Is there an easier way?

I also found it much harder to configure than when using the common php/mysql alternatives.

I've looked on your site but I can't find the guide you specify 'Basic Guide for WAMP & Add-ons'. The guide entitled 'Setup WAMP' does not include instructions for installing the PERL addon.

Help please?

Oh, by the way, I've just installed the latest version of WAMP.
