WampServer

Well, I want to access my WAMP server from other than locally. Like from school or my laptop at my other house. I have a pc running wamp, and its connected to a router. I added the following ports:

start end Server IP Address
3724 3724 192.168.1.3
8093 8093 192.168.1.3
3306 3306 192.168.1.3
8129 8129 192.168.1.3
(both TCP/UDP , I also added thoes ports to my firewall, and added port 80 to both)

I found those ports in a guide. I know that my server won't be fast, but only I want to access it. Not others. So slowness isn't a problem.

Also, do you need to HAVE a domain? Can I use my IP address? No security is altered because only I will use it.

What is the reasoning behind all those ports? R u playing WOW perhaps?

You can use an IP address to access your server if your Apache configuration includes a default virtual host. However, before exposing your site to the whole world, you may want to run a port scan from outside to see which ports are open in the firewall, just in case. Have a look at the Shields Up! service at www.grc.com.

Was my result from shields Up!, So yah, I think that is good. Also, I read that you can allow only a few IP's to your server. I can add my School's IP and my other home's IP to the list. Restricting the people on it. I also belive that Shields Up! came back as a false negative. I have port 80 open. and it showed port 80 as Stealth.

oh, and How would I set up a Virtual host? Without using a domain? just IP address.

you can use different ports.
