Fatal error: allowed memory size also

I have installed WAMP on my computer to host a local WordPress blog. I am trying to import an 818KB WordPress XML export file and I keep getting this error:

"Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 35 bytes) in C:\wamp\www\ahm\wp-admin\import\wordpress.php on line 88"

I did increase the post and file size to 750MB in the PHP.ini file, so I'm stumped.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

first of all wamp is designed for local testing and development only. it has absolutely no security in place to protect it to be a production server.

Thank you. I am using WAMP strictly for local testing and development.

As I stated above, I increased the max file and post size to 750M from 2 in the PHP.ini file. It still will not work.

Any further help would be greatly appreciated.

make sure you edit the correct php file:
c:\wamp\apache2\bin\php.ini

restart apache after editing the php.ini file for the changes to take effect.

Thank you. Yes, that is the file I edited. I restarted Apache, MySQL and then the whole system but I still can't get it to work.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks for the responses!
