Problem with privileges

So I installed wampserver and everything was fine until I added a password to the root user. After that it says I can't get in.
It says I should modify the config.inc.php file but I can't find it and anyway, why would it be set up so that I need to do that just to add a password?
Help greatly appreciated.

the config file needs mysqls root user id and password to connect to mysql. if you change the root users password, then phpmyadmin will not work until you update the config file with the new user info.
