Desktop icon disappears

After 1st install the icon is there. However after next boot it has gone. Apache, PHP and MySQL are running fine. Restarting Wampmanager doesn't help.
I use NOD32 and Comodo. Any ideas ???

Thanks, killing and restarting wampmanager brings back the icon. However at next boot the icon is missing again. Again a kill and restart brings it back. So problem looks solved but the root cause is not found. PHP, Apache and MySQL still running fine.

Any idea for the root cause ?

I am having the same problem.

Desktop short icon is reverting to a default blank windows icon. i.e. it disappears

I have upload a screen snippet to my photobucket account so you can see what I mean:

It would be nice if you could fix this, as its annoying and gives a bad first impression of WAMP

Thanks

Thats a wierd one. Never had that before.

Anyway try this as a first attempt.

Right click the WampServer icon on your desktop.

Select 'Properties' from the dropdown menu.

On the 'Shortcut' tab click the 'Change Icon' button and then select the wampicon ( its the only option )

Click 'Apply' and then 'Ok' buttons.

Try a reboot and see if that has sorted it.

If it does all I can suggest is that there was a small problem with your registry and something got corrupted.

I think the root cause is WampManager has no icon

See screenshot:

Following your instructions I can change the icon to be something else. Just not the WampManager Icon.

I can cheat by making the WampManager shortcut point to the uninstall icon, so it looks like WampManager.

Maybe when this release was packaged up WampManager didn't have an icon???

Thanks

Well I have the same .exe as you, same date time and size.

Just checking you do see this when you try the previous suggest change?

Your image does not even show the default .exe icon, so I have to assume either you or a piece of software you installed has done something odd with the defaults.
Its not a fault with the wampmanager.exe

Hi

Yes that's exactly what I did. Thanks for the diagram it confirms I was doing as you asked.

Ok well thanks for being so thorough. It must be something at my end. I am glad everyone is suffering this.

I just thought I would add to this thread as someone else (the original poster) was having a similar problem.

I will just live with it.

Thanks very much
